A Drive Down the Coast

Dan had yesterday off of work, so we decided we needed to be off base exploring. The kids had school so it was just us, some good conversation and some not too bad-looking scenery.
Driving past Shirahama sandy beach.
We parked at Tanesashi Grassy Beach and went for a walk along the coast. The combination of sea cliffs and pine trees is so lovely.
We drove further down the coast through small Japanese towns and came to a spot Dan had taken the scouts camping the year before, it was beautiful! I should have taken more pictures!
This is the coastline, pretty amazing!
We came across this guy while we were driving. Not sure what he was but there are some different looking animals here. He watched us close until we drove away.
This a pretty shrine we saw on the way home that we only had time to drive by. Japanese road trips are the best!

Football

Football season is here again in Misawa. Rayce played last year but I didn't think he liked it that much, but he asked me to sign him up again.
He's so cute, I couldn't take enough pictures!

A Different Birthday

My Mom turned 60 on Labor Day, September 7th. My family met at the cemetery to have a little celebration since the headstone was just put in place. I was sad to have to miss this special day but they sent me some pictures!
The headstone looks really beautiful, and what a beautiful day!
I was expecting to be sad on this day but I wasn't. I was filled with gratitude for my Mom, I'm certainly sad she's gone and I miss her every day, but, we'll be together again. That's nothing to be sad about.

Their Turn

Today Rayce started 3rd grade and Avie Jo, 1st.
I love this kid!!
And this one too!!
There are two elementary schools here on base but the one the kids went to last year is being renovated as the new junior high, so now they get to be bused to the other elementary school.
They're so big!
