Day at the Museum
The kids had a couple of days off for parent teacher conferences so we decided to head down to the Omaha Children's Museum. They have an exhibit right now called Itty Bitty City.
They made masks and capes, and these little cars were a hit with Rayce and Avie.
Rayce decided what he wants to be when he grows up!

Halloween Fun
Our Halloween this year was so much fun, a little cooler than the past three years but fun nonetheless. We started with Halloween sugar cookies to decorate, apparently I forgot how much my recipe makes, because oh boy we were decorating the whole night.
Then the carving of pumpkins,
The kids also had a cute costume parade and trunk or treat at their school.
Here's Rayce's cute class.
And a mighty cute, I mean tough ninja!
Then I managed to lose my camera for most of the main event, by the time I found it Avie was the only remaining one in her costume.
Cutest Snow White ever!

Relaxed
The weather in Omaha has been gorgeous, and the Nelson's have been taking advantage of it because we know this gorgeous weather is soon to turn to frigid weather. A little fall color.
Farmer's market
We gave the kids 3 bucks each but told them they had to buy produce...Avie bought pumpkins, that counts.
Walking to the e creamery. Our favorite spot to get ice cream and gelato.
...and here's our teeny-tiny house! Ha, it's not that it's that small it just has a lack of storage and closets! It's helping me become a more organized person, hopefully!

Random Happenings
Now that we are settled here in our new home life has slowed down a bit and we're able to enjoy the long missed autumn weather. The hardest part for me about living in Arizona was the absence of colorful leaves and the crisp air of fall.
Avie started dance! For a week, then decided it just wasn't for her. I've tried everything to get her to go back but she's not having any of it. Oh well, next year.
We also went to our ward camp-out at Memphis Lake, I tried to get out of it but we ended up going and having a great time!

Labor Day Weekend
After all the craziness of getting settled into a new place and starting school, I was so grateful that Dan had the Friday before Labor Day off as well. A fun-filled four day weekend was definitely in order.
Why not do a little shirtless horseback riding?
The kids tried fishing at Two Rivers
and attempted to catch frogs
Fun with the Sorenson's
Roasting marshmallows
We also went to the zoo, its awesome!

Back to School
Whew, we made it and finally have internet service again (another story). It's been a crazy month. We arrived safely in Nebraska, kids, grandparents, dog, picked Daddy up from the airport, discovered our rental home had mold...yes I said mold, a lot of mold. Luckily for us the home literally across the street was available and our furniture hadn't arrived yet, so we walked our few possessions across the street and are now finally settling down.
It actually helped to have the kids start school, I needed some sense of normalcy amongst the chaos. I think they were happy to start as well.I was unsure how Rayce would handle all-day kindergarten, or maybe it was how I would handle all-day kindergarten...whatever the case we both did fine!
Aside from the whole height thing, doesn't she look big?
I really love their elementary school already and their teachers seem great. Danielle was worried because she has a male teacher, but she likes him a lot. Here's hoping for a great year!
